Human Spaceflight Fundamentals - Online & VR Course

Join Dr Jim Green, former NASA Chief Scientist and CEO & Founder of MetaVisionaries, alongside Thomas Mueller, Founder of Austronaut, for an engaging and comprehensive online workshop series on human spaceflight.

Across four days in the metaverse, you’ll explore astronaut activities and training, space science, the human body in microgravity, and the future of space exploration.

This program is delivered through a collaboration between MetaVisionaries and Austronaut. Recommended for ages 15-25 but not exclusive.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the origins and evolution of human spaceflight and the changing role of astronauts.

  2. Understand how astronauts are selected, trained, and prepared for space missions.

  3. Explain the scientific importance of the Moon and how humans achieved the first lunar landing.

  4. Understand the basic principles of orbital mechanics that enable spacecraft operations.

  5. Describe the operational environment of astronauts, including space stations, EVAs, and life-support systems.

  6. Understand the physiological and psychological challenges of living and working in space.

  7. Identify the behaviours, teamwork, and resilience required for high performance in extreme environments.

  8. Understand the future of human space exploration, incl. commercial spaceflight and missions to the Moon & Mars.
